A New Horizontal X-Brace

At ActivX Mobility, Dick Rogers, a user since 1957, has patented a horizontal X-brace that provides the user the ride of a rigid chair and combines the convenience of a folding frame.

This team has done their homework and one chair can be adjusted with a single bolt to change its’ width from 15”-18” to accommodate growth or weight gain. The foot pedals can swing in, out or be removed. The chair folds without increasing in height, and the wheels remove for easier user transport.

As they say at ActivX Mobility "Sometimes it's worth reinventing the wheel".

They not only have a horizontal folding wheelchair, but a variety of styles for various needs. Their K0005 ABX wheelchair has an adjustable plate axle for improved center of gravity

Now You Can Fly

A chair designed for the active person on the go is the 23.5 lbs. fully assembled APX which has the ActivX Horizontal-X Brace that performs like a rigid chair.

The APX can fold and be stored in the overhead bin on commercial airlines. People using this chair will be able to board an airplane and maneuver down the narrow aisles and return to their full width chair due to ActivX's capability to be narrowed.

APX's X brace locks in place providing fixed security with folding convenience.

Pediatric Growth Kit

When it comes to having a growth kit for pediatric wheelchairs this one already has the adjustment capabilities built in, eliminating the need for an oversized or undersized wheelchair, or more frequent expensive purchases for a growing child.

Summary

Dick Rogers team may have stumbled upon the next new wheelchair with capabilities to save the skilled nursing homes money.

The activeX wheelchair with the horizontal x-brace may just be the one to replace the multitude of old fixed width wheelchairs in storage.

When small increments can improve the quality of life for the nursing home resident why would you want anything else?
